The Harvard Endowment Fund, so far as subscriptions go, is undoubtedly lagging, but the members of the hundred teams are daily obtaining the views of the alumni regarding what Harvard ought to be, which will be of inestimable value to the University Administration.

The collections for the fund yesterday were the smallest since, the campaign began, but the fourth week closed last night with 54 1-2 per cent of the desired amount pledged. When the results of last night's round-up in New York are known, the fund is expected to jump to well over 60 per cent of the full amount. Up to last night Boston had subscribed $3,342,945; New York's total was $3,065,406, and the rest of the country had pledged $1,846,988, bringing the grand total to $8,255,289.

Among the large individual subscriptions recorded were: C. S. Bird '77, $10,000, and Mrs. A. L. Rotch, J. R. Coolidge '50 and Mrs. Coolidge, Harold J. Coolidge '92, and Mrs. Coolidge, D. Sears '74, and "A Former Instructor," $5,000 each.
