The subject for the interclass debating tournament, as announced last night, is as follows: "Resolved: that the United States Government should officially recognize by law the principle of collective bargaining." The tryouts for the class teams will be held on Thursday evening at places to be announced. The candidates will speak five minutes on either side of the subject.
The members of the class teams will be chosen on the Friday following the tryouts. Then the teams will have a week to prepare for the preliminary round of the tournament, which will take place on November 10. The finals will take place November 14. The winning team will be awarded a silver cup.
This early season debating will give valuable experience to men who plan to come out for the University team this winter.
