After two weeks of hard work seven cross-country men have been selected to represent the University in the race to be held under the auspices of the University of Syracuse on Saturday. Among the eight colleges that will compete in the meet are Yale, Princeton, Cornell, Harvard, and Syracuse.
The harriers who will leave Cambridge for Syracuse, Thursday morning are: T. G. Ames '20, S. Harris '20, B. Lewis '20, G. F. Wason '20, and A. W. Douglass '21, J. E. Nally '21, and F. G. Bemis '22.
Lewis, the cross-country captain is the only harrier on the team who has had much experience. He the team who has had much experience. He won his numerals in his Freshman year when he placed first in every race. The next fall he was elected captain of the informal team, but left for an army training camp before the season was completed.
The other runners are all new to the cross-country work. Their steady improvement during the fall, however, speaks well for the quality of the team. In the words of Coach Farrell it is "a fighting team."
Ames has shown great stamina this fall constantly cutting down his time in the trials. Wason, who placed fourth in the last time trials at Belment, is a very consistent runner.
C. E. Dexter '22 and W. H. Goodwin '20, who are on the cross-country team, are not yet sufficiently recovered from injuries to race Saturday. D. F. O'Connell '20, who injured his leg at the Braves Field Meet two weeks age, ran for the first time yesterday since his injury. It is hoped that he will be in his usual form by the Yale Meet.
