The Department of Physical Training has, after considerable difficulty, engaged the services of Mr. Larry Conley as boxing instructor. Beginning November 1, Mr. Conley will be at the Hemenway Gymnasium on Monday, Wednesday and Friday of each week from 1.45 to 4.45 o'clock. At that time he will give instruction in boxing to those men in the Freshman Physical. Training sections who elect boxing as their indoor exercise during the winter. These classes will also be open to upper classmen who are interested. Mr. Conley expects to remain at the gymnasium for one to two hours after these physical training periods. During that time he will give private advanced lessons to anyone who wishes to engage his services.
Mr. Conley was amateur boxing champion of the B.A.A. championships for five years. After that he was boxing instructor at Cornell University, and later he was boxing instructor at the Middlesex School at Concord, Mass. Mr. Conley has refereed many important bouts around Boston in recent years.
Thirty Freshmen and upper-class men have registered with the Department of Physical Training for boxing instruction. Any other men who want to join Mr. Conley's classes may do so by registering in the department's office in Weld 3.
