UNIVERSITY WILL COMBAT STALWART SAILOR NINE

GAME BEGINS AT 3.30

Severely crippled by the loss of R. E. Gross '19, University captain and shortstop, to the Fourth Officers' Camp, the baseball team will line up against the Radio School nine on Soldiers Field this afternoon at 3.30 o'clock. The sailors have had a very successful season, and will push the University players hard. They defeated the Freshmen a week ago by a score of 20 to 5.

To fill in the gap caused by the absence of Captain Gross, J. B. Wolverton '20, the regular second baseman, will be shifted to shortstop, while P. Dickson '20 will take the latter's place at second base.

Another loss which will be keenly felt is that of A. L. Peirson '20, the first substitute pitcher, who has also left College to enter the Fourth O. T. C. Camp. He was in the box against the Portland Naval Reserves and pitched a short time in the game with Camp Devens. In the former engagement he would probably have scored a shut-out had it not been for poor support. S. H. Johnson '20 will now be regular second-string pitcher, as H. M. Erb '20 has also entered Government service.

With the exception of the above-mentioned changes at second base and short-stop, the lineup will be the same as that which faced Yale on Saturday.

The showing made in the contest with the Elis was far from satisfactory, particularly in hitting, which has been regarded as the team's strong point throughout the preliminary engagements. On the other hand the nine displayed marked improvement in the field and with more practice will present a steady defence in the two remaining collegiate contests with Yale and Princeton.

This will be the last game before meeting Princeton on May 25.
