In the season's opening clash of inter-collegiate oarsmen the University eight meets Princeton on Lake Carnegie this afternoon over the mile and seven-eighths American Henley distance. Shortly before the contest for the University crews, the 1921 shells of both colleges will row over exactly the same course.
Neither Coach Haines nor Coach Fitzpatrick have had their charges under the watch, and consequently their time is unpredictable. Whatever their speed as compared with former years, a close match is expected this afternoon. Coach Haines expressed confidence in a Crimson victory but by a very slight margin.
The University boats will be seated as follows:
University.--Stroke, R. S. Emmet '19 (capt); 7, F. B. Whitman '19; 6, D. L. Withington, Jr., '20; 5, F. Parkman '19; 4, C. F. Batchelder, Jr., '20; 3, J. F. Linder, Jr., '19; 2, J. S. Coleman '19; bow, R. H. Bowen '20; cox, C. Reynders '20.
