Major General Samuel Storrow Sumner, U. S. A. (retired), of Syracuse, N. Y., second ranking officer of the state of Massachusetts, will be the presiding officer at the debate between the University and Princeton in Sanders Theatre tomorrow night. Thomas J. B. Boynton, United States District Attorney of Boston; Frederick J. Macleod '91, chairman of the Massachusetts Public Service Commission, and the Hon. James H. Vahey, former Democratic candidate for Governor of Massachusetts, will be the judges.
General Sumner is a veteran of the Civil and Spanish Wars. He fought in the battles of Fair Oaks and Antietam, and was commissioned a major in 1865 for his work in the Vicksburg campaign. He commanded a cavalry brigade and division in the Cuban campaign before his retirement in 1906. He has had wide experience in many Government enterprises and is well informed on the question of Liberty Bonds, with which the debate will be largely concerned.
Practice for the triangular contest is being held every night this week in triar debates.
