AFFIRMATIVE AND NEGATIVE DEBATING TEAMS SELECTED

At the practice debate between the members of the University debating squad, held in the Standish Hall Common Room last night, the teams which will represent the University in the triangular meet with Yale and Princeton next Friday were selected as follows: J. J. Tutun '20, H. Berlack '20 and W. L. Prosser '18, to compose the negative team; and J. Davis '19, W. Hettleman '19 and W. S. Holbrook '21, to form the affirmative team. Two alternates were chosen: H. A. Janzlik '20, who will go to Yale, and L. L. Levy '20, who will act as substitute for the negative.

The order of speakers for the triangular contest is that given above. In the rebuttals, the order will be: negative, Berlack, Tutun, Prosser; affirmative, Hettleman, Davis, Holbrook. The regular speeches are to be 12, the rebuttals five minutes in length.

As has been the custom in former triangular debates between Princeton, Yale and the University, the negative team of each university will debate at home, and the affirmative away. Princeton and the University will meet at Cambridge, Yale and the University at New Haven, and Yale and Princeton at Princeton. The university winning two debates is awarded the championship.

This year's question, "Resolved, That the Government in financing the war should obtain a larger percentage of its funds from taxes than from bonds," is of especial interest at the present time. It is essentially a Liberty Loan question and with the new April drive to sell bonds coming next month, it is a subject which is of vital importance.

Will Solicit Funds.

Canvassing of the University dormitories to sell tickets for the debate in order to defray the expenses of the team's trip to Yale, will be begun today. Tickets at 25 and 50 cents may also be obtained at Leavitt and Peirce's, Phillips Brooks House, Amee Brothers' Bookstore or at Holworthy 20.
