The date for the annual Student Conference at Northfield has been set for June 18 to June 28 inclusive, and students of all New England colleges and many secondary schools may attend. It was at first doubtful whether, on account of the war, the conference would be held at all this year, but it has now been definitely decided to maintain the custom of over 20 years' standing, and hold the convention as usual.
The conference is planned not only to give opportunities for personal contact with men who are outstanding leaders in modern religious thought, but also to afford a chance for a few days of healthy recreation. With these ends in view the daily program will be arranged so that Bible and mission classes, and lectures by prominent social service leaders will take up the mornings and evenings, while the afternoons will be devoted to various sorts of athletics, such as intercollegiate competitions in baseball, track and tennis.
Established For 20 Years.
The Northfield Student Conferences began more than 20 years ago at Mt. Hermon, and were moved the next year to East Northfield, where they have been held ever since. Many other similar conferences were subsequently organized in various sections of the country. Within a few weeks an undergraduate of the University will be chosen as chairman of the contingent to go from Cambridge to the conference.
