The first meeting of candidates for the informal and Freshman baseball teams, at which Coach Hugh Duffy will speak, will be held in the Trophy Room of the Union next Monday evening, February 11, at 8.15 o'clock. Actual practice will commence the following day when the battery candidates for both nines will be called out. Practice will be held daily in the cage, which will probably be heated, as will the Locker Building if the present cold snap comes to an end. The fielders will not report until later in the season, possibly not until the teams start outdoor practice, as it is expected that the cage will be used by the R. O. T. C. for part of each afternoon during March.
The informals will be handicapped by the loss of W. W. McLeod '19, who captained the nine last fall. McLeod will soon leave College to enter the aviation service in which he is enrolled.
Freshman manager candidates will report at Randolph 37 on Monday at 10 o'clock. The competition will then be outlined to them by R. McA. Lloyd '19 the baseball manager. No previous experience is necessary and the work will be cut shorter than the customary extended competition.
