NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

Louis Adams Frothingham '93 will be chief marshal on Commencement Day this spring, according to a statement in the Alumni Bulletin. In accordance with a long-established precedent, a member of the graduating class 25 years ago was chosen.

Mr. Frothingham, while an undergraduate, played on the baseball team for four years and was captain for the last two seasons. He was also second marshal of his class.

In the fall of 1893 he entered the Harvard Law School, and in 1896 received the degree of LL.B. Since 1896 he has practised law in Boston.

He has taken an active part in politics. For years he was a member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives, and during the last two years was speaker of that body. In 1905 he was a candidate for mayor of Boston. In 1908 he was elected lieutenant-governor of Massachusetts and was twice reelected. In 1911 he was the Republican nominee for Governor of Massachusetts and was barely beaten at the polls by Governor Foss, who was a candidate for re-election. He is now serving his second term as an Overseer of Harvard College, and has been also a lecturer on legislative procedure.
