The Harvard Hut completes today its first week of existence. It has proved to be a great success. The number of men who have taken advantage of its various services is constantly increasing, and will continue to do so as more discover what is at their disposal. Cigarettes, cigars, candy of all kinds, ice cream, college ices, cocoa, coffee, milk, light lunches, etc., may be obtained at cost. The reading and writing room is provided with stationery, magazines, and a victrola.
After more equipment arrives, the second floor will also be converted into reading, writing, and lounging rooms. This will provide increased space for those who wish to study or write.
Men are now wanted, especially Freshmen, to work at the Hut for an hour to an hour and a half three times a week. They will be in charge of the reading room. Besides giving out stationery, they will have very little to do and will be able to study; so no time will be wasted. Those who are willing to offer their services should see E. B. Schwultz at Phillips Brooks House any day from 9-10 A. M. and 1-2 P. M. Volunteers will be doing a great service without any inconvenience to themselves.
A Service Club has been started by the War Camp Community Service at 58 Garden street, at Houghton House. This club will be open to all men in the service.
