GREAT SCARCITY OF OARSMEN

More Men Needed for Conditioning Work on Machines.

Only three Freshman crews have reported to Coach Haines at the Locker Building for the preliminary training which commenced on Wednesday. From the upper classes there is also a scarcity of oarsmen.

In commenting upon the winter practice Coach Haines said yesterday:

"Few in the University realize the value of this indoor training. It is the best possible preparation for prospective members of both Freshman and informal crews, not only as conditioning exercise, but also in learning the fundamental principles of the rowing stroke as used here, and in the correction of faults. The men develop their rowing muscles slowly and naturally, thus allowing hard workouts on the river at an earlier date than if they have not had this training."

Practice for all members of the College is held at the Locker Building daily except Saturday from 3 to 5 P. M.
