Infantry drill regulations and military science are the two courses in military training to be offered during the 1917 summer session at the University of Michigan under the supervision of a competent officer probably detailed by the War Department. This will enable all male students attending the summer session to take intensive training preparatory to being called into service in the fall.

The course in infantry drill regulation includes the School of the Soldier, the School of the Squad, the School of the Company, the School of the Battalion, ceremonies, close-order and extended-order drill. In the course in military science the following subjects will be discussed: Reconnaissance, military law as applied to the duties of the soldier, temporary and permanent entrenchments, location and relation of different units, location of field artillery, machine gun emplacements, barbed-wire entanglements and obstructions, first aid, and camp sanitation.
