"MOVIES" FOR MILITARY UNITS

The Phillips Brooks House Association purchased yesterday a new, standard sized Pathescope motion picture machine which will be used for the entertainment of the two training corps that are stationed in Cambridge for the summer. The University R. O. T. C. and also the Naval Radio Reserve studying at the Cruft Laboratory will be given picture entertainments throughout the next two months.

Arrangements have already been made with a film exchange in Boston, whereby the Phillips Brooks House Association is to have eight reels each week of the best motion pictures made. Some of the pictures will be of travel, some of science and invention and of drama.

Arthur Beane '11, to whose efforts the purchase of the machine was due, is planning to give an entertainment tonight at Wakefield, if the weather permits. The same pictures will probably be displayed later in the week to members of the first and third battalions of the R. O. T. C., and to members of the Radio Reserve.

Until the training corps goes into barracks in the Freshman Halls, the pictures are to be shown in Peabody Hall, Phillips Brooks House. This room will accommodate about 350 men, and if the occasion demands it, it would also be possible to use the new Louise E. Bettens' room, which adjoins Peabody Hall. These two rooms together will seat nearly 500 men. When the Corps is occupying the Freshman Halls, facilities will be provided for outdoor entertainment's in the Smith Quadrangle.

R. O. T. C. Writing Room Opened.

The parlor of Phillips Brooks House has been opened as a writing room for the convenience of members of the R. O. T. C. The Parlor is fully equipped with stationery and writing facilities and is to be open daily from 12 to 1.30 o'clock from now on. The Association is also maintaining another writing room in Pierce Hall for the special benefit of the Naval Radio Reservists.
