HARVARD CLUBS NOT TO MEET

DECISION CAUSED BY INCREASED STRAIN ON OFFICIALS IN WASHINGTON.

The annual meeting of the Associated Harvard Clubs, which was to have been held in Washington, D. C., on June 1 and 2, has been indefinitely postponed. The Executive Committee has issued a statement in which it explains the reasons for this change of plans.

When it was decided to change the place of meeting from Buffalo to Washington, it was felt that the opportunity to come in contact with the important daily developments and the men in charge of the conduct of the war would be of great educational value and a new inspiration to men from other parts of the country. With the increasing strain of the new commissions which are filling the city and the new problems which are coming before the government, the postponement of the meeting has been deemed the part of patriotism.

The graduates in Washington who originally favored the meeting, and the Harvard Club of that city still tender their hospitality in the event of a further change in the plans. They agree, however, that in the event of a national crisis at that time it would be difficult for the clubs to come together.
