THE KNOCK OF OPPORTUNITY

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The opportunity for men outside of the University to join the Corps is now open. It need not be stated here what are the advantages which will accrue to the cadet from the system of training so ably laid down by the tactical staff of the Corps. Men who were good enough for Plattsburg, whether they are Brown, Dartmouth, Yale, Colby, Bates, or Tufts men, will have an unparalleled oportunity to prove what they may do. Nor is admission limited to college men. Non-college men of ability and character may here show their greater fitness to be officers above men of less ability and character, whether those are Harvard men or not.

In spite of the fact that the camp is in large part financially possible through the generosity of Harvard alumni and the Harvard government, nevertheless it is not a Harvard camp. It is a national camp. If it takes on more of a Harvard air it will be because more Harvard men have seized the opportunity offered to all.

So a camp at New Haven would take on a Harvard air if more Harvard men were there. If other colleges wish to send a larger contingent, the Corps would welcome them gladly, and Harvard's representation join with them in a spirit of friendly rivalry.

Opportunity knocks but once. But the unsociable lady is rapping loudly now.
