The track team has entered 15 men in the eighth annual indoor carnival to be held under the auspices of the Meadowbrook Club at Philadelphia Saturday night. This is the second year the University has participated in this meet. Entries have been made in both track and field events.
Last year the University entered a team of 13 men which won three first places. The relay team made up of H. W. Minot '17, T. R. Pennypacker '16, W. Willcox, Jr., '17, and W. J. Bingham '16, defeated the fast Pennsylvania quartet by 15 yards. In the race the University relay covered the distance in three minutes 26 2-5 seconds, which is within one second of the world's indoor record for the mile. J. Coggeshall, Jr., '18, with a handicap of 90 yards, won the mile run. He ran a beautifully timed race in four minutes 19 3-5 seconds, and G. G. Haydock '16, with a handicap of nine inches, won the pole vault with an actual vault of 12 feet.
It was in the Meadowbrook games last year that Ted Meredith did the 660-yard run in one minute 21 2-5 seconds, thereby lowering his own world's record by two seconds.
