FIVE PRIZE CONTESTS TO CLOSE

Tomorrow is the last day for handing in compositions for the Bowdoin, Francis Boott, Lloyd McKim Garrison, George Arthur Knight, and Menorah Society prizes. These compositions must be handed in to University 20 before 1 o'clock.

The Bowdoin Prizes are divided into two groups for dissertations in English and in the classics. In the English group there is a first prize of $250 and two second prizes of $100 each; in the Greek and Latin group there are two prizes of $50 each. In addition each winner will be given a bronze medal and his name will be announced on the Commencement program.

The Francis Boott Prize is one of $100 for the best concerted vocal music composition which must be written in four voices and with organ or piano accompaniment.

The Lloyd McKim Garrison Prize is given for the best poem on the subject of "National Defence" and consists of a sum of $100 and a silver medal.

The George Arthur Knight Prize of $30 is given for the best composition in instrumental music, preference being given to compositions for string quartets or trios, though works with piano accompaniment may compete.

Essays for the Menorah Society Prize are on a subject relating to the works and achievements of the Jewish people. For the best of these a prize of $100 is given.

Competitors for the Boylston Prizes for Elocution must register by tomorrow at 1 o'clock. In this competition four prizes, two firsts of $30 each and two seconds of $20 each, are given.

After tomorrow no more theses of candidates for the degree of Ph.D. in 1916 in the Division of Ancient Languages, of Modern Languages, and of History, Government, and Economics will be received. It is also the last day on which applications can be made by candidates for second year Honors.
