Shall Yale be Bone Dry?

A serious attempt is being made by a group of optimistic seniors at Yale to place the students of that institution on a bone-dry basis. There are many who doubt very much whether the attempt will succeed in the near future, but those who doubt admit that bone-dryness is sure to come within a few years.

Whether Harvard will care to enter into competition with Yale along that line of student activity remains to be seen. There are college men everywhere who make a specialty of wrestling with King Alcohol whenever his majesty offers an opportunity, but their number is comparatively small. It happens, however, that the drunken student usually makes more noise than the sober one, and naturally attracts more attention in public places.

One hundred years from now, perhaps, the college drinking songs, for so many years popular with graduates, undergraduates and others without college associations, will have to be explained with diagrams to those who hear them or read their wording, and classed as relics of the days when the use of alcohol by those engaged in the pursuit of learning was not limited to scientific experiments.
