SNOW CHAMPION IN BOXING AND WRESTLING TOURNEYS

W. B. Snow '18, wrestling captain and guard on last year's football team won the heavyweight boxing and wrestling championships of the University in the feature bouts of the tournaments held last night in the Union. His opponent in the boxing, G. K. Noble '17, showed himself a hard fighter, however, and the match furnished plenty of excitement to the large crowd in attendance. In the three rounds Snow knocked his rival down twice, and forced the fighting during the entire bout.

In the match following this fight, R. Hoffman '19, who had won the semifinal round earlier in the evening, was awarded the decision over H. Rogers '19.

Perhaps the closest fight of the tournament was between A. M. Geer '18 and L. A. Wheeler '18. After three rounds of hard fighting and much clinching, Wheeler was declared the winner.

A summary of the final rounds is as follows:

Sayre '17; heavyweight class: W. B. Snow '18 defeated G. K. Noble '17.

Snow Takes Second Title.

After the boxing tournament the wrestlers were brought into the ring to decide the championships of the University in the various weight classes. All of the bouts were very evenly contested, and resulted in close decisions. There was but one fall during the whole evening, and that came in the 175-pound match, when Burnham threw Brown after an eight-minute tussle. The liveliest bouts were staged in the 145-pound class, in the 175-pound class, and in the heavy-weight class. The greatest interest was centered about the heavyweight match, in which W. B. Snow '18, captain of the University wrestling team, who had earlier in the evening won the heavyweight boxing title, was pitted against E. R. Roberts 1L, hammer-thrower and shot-putter on last year's track team. At the end of the allotted nine minutes the men were at a draw, and four minutes' extra time had to be allowed before the decsion was granted to Snow. The summary follows:
