The University chess team will play the Boston Chess Club in its fifth match of the Metropolitan Chess League series at the club room, Fairfax 6, tonight at 8 o'clock. Of the four matches already played the University team has won one, drawn one and lost two. The following men are scheduled for this evening's match: E. W. Axe uC, R. Johnson 1L, L. D. LeFevre '17, R. G. R. Sloane '19, A. R. Frey '19, and F. M. Kernan '20.
Interclass Tournament Starts.
Next Monday the interclass tournament will begin, open to the three upper classes, and a week later the University and novice championship tournaments will get under way. The former is open to the entire University, the latter to all who have not played on the University team.
Freshmen interested in the interdormitory cup series should report at Fairfax 6 next Tuesday at 8. A captain will be appointed from each dormitory, who will select three men and a substitute to make up the team with him. Any Freshman not living in the dormitories are to leave their names with R. G. R. Sloane '19, Ridgely 52, or R. K. Kenna '17, Westmorly 3, who will assign them to one of the dormitories for trials. If enough Freshmen from any one outside dormitory apply they will be entered as a fourth team to represent their dormitory in the meet.
The interdormitory cup was won last year by Smith Halls, with R. G. R. Sloane '19 as captain, and in 1915 by Gore Hall, with W. B. Snow '18 as captain. These matches provide an excellent opportunity for Freshmen to get in practice for next year's University team.
The interdormitory schedule has been arranged as follows:
March 6: Smith vs. Standish.
March 13: Standish vs. Gore.
March 20: Gore vs. Smith.
March 23: Smith vs. Standish.
March 27: Standish vs. Gore.
March 30: Gore vs. Smith.
