All candidates wishing to compete for positions on the news, business, or editorial staffs of the CRIMSON in the annual spring competition will report at the CRIMSON Building, 14 Plympton street, Wednesday evening at 7 o'clock. The competition for news editors and business managers will be open only to members of the Freshman and Sophomore classes while only Juniors may compete for places on the editorial staff. This is the last chance for Sophomores to get on the news or business staffs and for Juniors to make the board.
The news candidates will be expected to gather news of general interest to the University and to put it in form ready for publication. While the competition will be of great value to men contemplating making journalism their career, it is equally valuable to other members of the University. It brings the candidates in touch with organizations and institutions and the leaders of such in a way otherwise hardly possible.
This is the first year that Freshmen have been able to try out for the business department. It is probable that at least one will be taken on from the Freshman candidates and there are also several positions open to the class of 1919. Securing advertisements and doing a certain amount of clerical work will be the sort of work required of the men. No bookkeeping or previous experience is necessary for this or for other departments of the CRIMSON. It will be of advantage to prospective candidates to consult the business manager at the CRIMSON Building some time before the competition commences. He will be there every morning from 8.30 to 9 o'clock.
