The course in aviation which will be started next week by the University Aero Society is intended for all those members of the University who expect at some time to enter Army or Navy aviation and wish to acquire a fundamental knowledge of aeronautics. The course will be very elementary in character and is intended only for beginners, as there is a more advanced course at present being conducted for those who have studied the subject before.
Meetings of the new course will be held on Monday evenings, starting next week on November 26 at 7.30 o'clock. At first it will be conducted by members of the Aero Club, but later on lectures will be given by outside men, including instructors in the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Ground School of Aviation, and experienced representatives from several large aeroplane manufacturing companies, among them the Burgess, Sturtevant, Curtiss and Goodyear companies.
In addition to these lectures there will be some work of a practical nature, including weekly trips which will be made to aviation schools and aeroplane factories near Cambridge. Among these trips will be visits to the Ground School of Aviation at Tech. These will probably be held on Tuesday afternoons, starting next week. Since only ten men can be shown through the school at one time, several trips of the same kind will probably be made in successive weeks.
