Seven Freshmen, members of this fall's cross-country team, have been chosen to make the trip to New York to compete in the Freshmen Intercollegiates next Saturday. These men were the first of the 1921 harriers to finish last Saturday in the dual, meet with Yale 1921 which the Freshmen won, 19 to 47. The squad, which will leave for New York tomorrow at 3 o'clock, consists of the following: D. F. O'Connell, J. E. Nally, G. W. Boyd, F. L. A. Cady, B. W. Boyden, C. A. Page, H. E. Chambers and E. A. Weld.
The race itself will be run over the Van Courtlandt Park three-mile course, starting at 2.15 o'clock in the afternoon. The first five men on each team to finish will be counted in the final score.
Although the Freshmen defeated Yale decisively last Saturday, their season before that time had not been too successful. At the beginning of the year very few candidates came out, and for a time it seemed doubtful if there would be any team at all. However, the Freshman dormitories were canvassed by some members of the University squad and a fairly large number of men finally reported. There have been but three individual Freshman meets, the first against Andover, the second a quadrangular affair with Wakefield High School, Providence Technical High School and St. Benedict's Preparatory School, and the third against Yale. The 1921 runners lost to Andover, finished second to Wakefield High School in the quadrangular meet, and defeated Yale.
In three other races, individual Freshmen placed well while representing the R. O. T. C. or the H. A. A.
