The class-room work of the 1917-1918 R. O. T. C. commences this morning, at 9 o'clock with section meetings in Military Science 1. Section lists are posted in the basement of University Hall and cadets are held responsible for the assignments on them. Cadets are also responsible for the lists of new company assignments published elsewhere in today's CRIMSON. For the present, there will not be sections for Military Science 2, the corresponding theoretical work being taken up in lectures and extra drills. The first of these extra drills will take place in the Stadium Thursday afternoon, from 4.30 to 5.30 o'clock.
It is gradually becoming apparent to the officers of the Corps that, as long as the good weather lasts, it will be advisable to conduct more drills than at present are on the schedule. Action on this point will probably be taken before the end of the week.
Although the wish expressed by President Lowell and the R. O. T. C. officers has been gratified and a complete regiment of 1000 men is now certain, enlistments will be received during this week, and the recruiting committees will continue their work. Although it is possible to enroll as late as next Saturday, it is, nevertheless, of vital importance that the new men have the benefit of the elementary drills.
The third battalion drills this afternoon on the river embankment, or in case of rain, under the east side of the Stadium, from 4.30 till 5.30 o'clock. Captain Amann will deliver a lecture this evening at 7 o'clock to the members of Military Science 2. Tomorrow evening, Major Flynn will lecture to the elementary course on military organization.
