The third series of officers' training camps will be held from January 5 to April 5, 1918, according to a statement issued at Washington yesterday by Adjutant-General H. P. McCain. About 2500 graduates and undergraduates of colleges and military schools will attend these camps in addition to 17,000 enlisted men in the Regular Army, National Guard, and National Army.
In New England, twelve colleges with officially recognized training units will be allotted quotas to send to the New England camp, among them Harvard, Yale, and Massachusetts Institute of Technology. Harvard's quota will be 56 men. Technology will send approximately the same number.
All students and graduates of the colleges named by the Government may obtain application blanks at the colleges on or after October 10. They should then hand their applications to the officer in charge of military training at the institution where they have taken their training.
All the rules for the application and acceptance of candidates will be essentially the same as for the first two series of camps. All applicants must be between the ages of 20 and 9 months and 31 years on January 5, must give the names of three responsible citizens who know them well, and must have the physical report which forms part of the application blank filled out by a reputable physician. Applications will be received from October 15 until December 1.
