PIERIAN TO START 110TH YEAR.

Orchestra Has Again Secured M. Alloo As its Conductor.

With the announcement of trials for membership, the Pierian Sodality Orchestra is beginning its 110th season. In spite of the fact that the war has caused the cessation of many college activities, the Sodality feels that there is sufficient interest in good music to justify the continuance of its policy of service to musical interests which it has maintained annually for over a century.

The Sodality has again succeeded in obtaining M. Alloo, of the Boston Symphony Orchestra, as its conductor. M. Alloo himself, upon being interviewed, stated emphatically that "the Sodality should not discontinue its efforts, since, even in the war-ridden countries of Europe, music has assumed a higher, more sacred, position than ever before."

The trials are to be held on Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday, October 8, 9, 10, in the Music Building, at 7.30, and are open to all members of the University--graduates and undergraduates.
