In the absence of R. C. Cooke '18, F. Diamond '18 was yesterday appointed acting captain of this year's soccer team. For the present he will have charge of both the Freshman and University squads. A. T. Branigan '20 has been named as acting manager.
About 20 men reported for the first soccer practice yesterday in spite of the discouraging weather conditions. Several members of the last year's squad were present, among them E. E. Lucas '19 and W. W. Rice '18.
If enough candidates come out in the next few days, games will be arranged with teams in the neighborhood, but more men, especially those with previous experience, are necessary if the season is to be a success. Practice will be held daily and arrangements will be made so that the work will not conflict with military drill.
