RIFLES TO BE ISSUED TODAY

The distribution of rifles will begin today, when the Third Battalion will be issued the Krag-Jorgensen rifles which were used last year as well as slings and sight cones.

The members of the 1916-1917 R. O. T. C. found it hard to keep their rifles in the best of shape, since they were nearly always locked up in the racks except when drills were taking place. This year, cadets will be able to take their rifles to their rooms and clean them more frequently. However, permission for the removal of a piece will not be given unless its owner has filed a bond at the Bursar's office. Men who live out of town will be permitted to leave their rifles in the racks.

The Third Battalion will go today to the Armory in the basement of Persis Smith Hall and draw their ordnance. Tomorrow both the Second and First Battalions will be supplied.

There will be four lectures this week, two for the elementary and two for the advanced course. Captain Eugene A. Darling, M. R. C., will lecture to the members of Military Science 1 on Tuesday and Thursday evenings. His subject on both occasions will be Military Hygiene. Major Flynn will lecture to the members of Military Science 2 Wednesday evening on Company Administration. Captain Wm. H. Cole, Q. M. R. C., will take up the same subject on Friday.

Enrolment Totals 1049.

1049 men are now enrolled in the R. O. T. C. This is an increase of 21 over the last figures published.
