Yesterday afternoon, the first steps were taken in the transfer of the Cadet School, First Naval District, from its former location at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology to the University.
The 150 members of this School for Ensigns will be housed in Holyoke House where recreation and reading rooms as well as sleeping quarters will be provided. The administrative offices of the school will be in Dance Hall, a part of which has been remodelled for this purpose. A start was made on the final preparation of both Holyoke House and Dane Hall yesterday.
The men selected will report for duty next Wednesday, October 17. They will immediately take up the instruction that has been laid down by the Navy Department. At the end of the four-months course, Captain Parker, who is in charge of the school, will recommend satisfactory students for ensigns' commissions in the Naval Reserve.
