University Players Defeated Dartmouth 8 to 1, While 1919 Team Won From Exeter 9 to 0.

The University tennis team defeated Dartmouth at Hanover, last Saturday afternoon, by the score of 8 to 1. H. Teaze, former champion of the Philippines, won the only match for Dartmouth, taking two straight sets from J. S. Pfaffman '17.

The following is the summary of the matches: Singles--Captain R. N. Williams, 2d, '16 defeated R. Jones, 6-0, 6-1; G. C. Cancer '17 defeated Larmon, 6-0, 6-1; W. Rand, 3d, '17 defeated Koeniger, 6-2, 6-3; W. D. D. Morgan '18 defeated Fritz, 6-3, 6-3; H. Teaze (D,) defeated J. S. Pfaffman '17, 6-3, 6-4; H. G. M. Kelleher '18 defeated Cheney, 6-0, 6-2. Doubles--Williams and Pfaffman defeated Koeniger and Larmon, 6-1, 6-4; Doty and Kelleher defeated Fritz and Cheney, 6-3, 6-3; Caner and Rand defeated Jones and Teaze, 6-2, 6-3.

Freshman Team Blanked Exeter.

The 1919 tennis team easily defeated Exeter, at Exeter, last Saturday afternoon, winning all nine of its matches. The summary follows: Singles--Captain R. C. Rand '19 defeated C. W. Wooldredge, 6-0, 6-2; F. P. Ritchie '19 defeated Hinckley, 6-2, 6-2; C. J. Coulter '19 defeated Winant, 6-3, 6-0; F. W. Warburg '19 defeated Claflin, 6-4, 6-0; F. W. Hatch '19 defeated Beattie, 6-1, 7-5; L. K. Garrison '19 defeated W. Beattie, 6-3, 6-1. Doubles--Rand and Ritchie defeated Wooldredge and Hinckley, 6-3, 6-4; Hatch and Garrison defeated Winant and Claflin, 6-2, 5-7, 9-8; Coulter and Stevenson defeated the Beattie Brothers, 6-3, 6-2.

Seconds to Play Law School Team.

The second tennis team will play a scratch team from the Law School, on Divinity Field, this afternoon, at 3 o'clock. Six singles and three doubles matches will be played. The following will play for the second team: Singles--Captain A. S. Peabody '16, E. B. Benjamin '18, H. Talcott '18, E. O. Baker '17, E. B. Benedict '18, and D. K. Dunmore '18. Doubles--Peabody and Benjamin; Talcott and Benedict; L. E. Green '18 and H. R. Guild '17. The Law School team will be made up as follows: Singles--S. M. Stellwagen gr.L., W. I. Badger 3L., H. C. Place 3L., T. A. Lightner 1L.; B. H. Knollenberg 3L., and G. A. Davis 3L. Doubles--W. Hugus 3L. and Badger; Place and Stellwagen; Lightner and Davis.

The University championship in doubles, open to members of the three upper classes, will begin on Jarvis Field next Friday afternoon. A blue-book has been placed at Leavitt & Peirce's, in which entries may be made up to 6 o'clock next Wednesday night. In signing, players should indicate their afternoon classes in order to avoid unnecessary defaults. Players must also give the names of their partners and pay the entry fee of $1 per team, when signing.

In the continuation of the University championship tournament in singles, on Jarvis Field, this afternoon; the following matches will be played: At 4.45--W. Edgar '16 vs. C. N. Stone uC.; T. B. Scott '18 vs. W. W. Rice '18.
