The 1919 baseball team was defeated by Andover, 4 to 3, at Andover, yesterday afternoon. The Freshmen were in the lead 3 runs to 1 until the eighth inning, when Felton, who had previously pitched almost air-tight ball, weakened at the critical moment, passing one man and hitting another. An error by Sears was just enough to turn the tide in Andover's favor, and the Academy succeeded in putting three men across the plate, and in maintaining the one-run margin until the end of the game.
The Freshmen showed great improvement in their style of ball, gathering in five hits, and fielding consistently well, and at times brilliantly. In the out-field, Bond starred by making two difficult catches, while Kerr, at short, made one particularly skillful stop. The game was fast and well-played, with the exception of the Freshmen's one moment of weakness in the eighth inning.
