The racing yesterday afternoon in the Second Annual Harvard Invitation Regatta was markedly successful. Six events were run off during the day. Noble and Greenough School made a clean sweep, winning the three Regatta races in which they were entered. Since the new organization of schoolboy rowing established four years ago, they have had the phenomenal record on the Charles of thirteen victories out of a possible thirteen. The closest contest of the afternoon was that between A. Lippitt '19 and C. D. Murray '19 in the Novice singles, which the latter won by the small margin of one foot. N. P. Darling '17 won the Carroll Cup, easily defeating all his opponents. In the wherry race E. Holt '18 was in the lead, but got cramps about 100 yards before the finish, just managing to creep over second, four lengths behind N. L. Harris '19, the winner. The summary of the day follows.
First school fours.--Won by Noble and Greenough; second, Brookline High. Lead, one length.
Novice singles.--Won by C. D. Murray '19; second, A. Lippitt '19; third, C. O'Connor. Lead, one foot.
Centipede race.--Won by Union Boat Club; second, Weld Boat Club. Lead, one length.
School eights.--Won by Noble and Greenough; second, Roxbury Latin. Lead, two lengths.
Wherry race.--Won by N. L. Harris '19; second, E. Holt '18. Lead, four lengths.
Carroll Cup and Junior singles (runner-up considered winner of Junior singles).--Won by N. P. Darling '17; second, J. Hunt '19; third, G. F. Talbot '17. Lead, five lengths.
Today's events will be as follows: Senior Singles. A supper and reception for all entrants in the Regatta will be given in the Weld boathouse at 6.15 o'clock. The prizes will be given out at this time. The Cornell oarsmen arrive this morning and will have preliminary work on the river in preparation for the race tomorrow. The champion Yale class crew arrives in the afternoon and will probably also take a trial spin over the course.
