Harvard Students To Vote on Divestment From Israel in Inaugural HUA Election Survey
The University tennis team defeated Princeton six matches to three, on Divinity Field, Saturday afternoon. The fastest match of the afternoon was that in which G. C. Caner '17 and W. Rand, 3d, '17 defeated Knox and Riker by the score of 6-4, 6-4. The match was close throughout, and was characterized by steady, brilliant playing by both sides. Captain R. N. Williams, 2d, '16 easily disposed of L. Beekman in a match which resulted in a 6-2, 6-0 score.
The following is the summary: Singles--Captain R. N. Williams, 2d, '16 defeated L. Beekman, 6-2, 6-0; G. C. Caner '17 defeated Coffey, 2-6, 6-4, 6-4; Knox defeated W. Rand, 3d, '17, 7-5, 6-3; J. S. Pfaffmann '17 defeated Riker, 6-2, 6-2; H. G. M. Kelleher '18 defeated Atterbury, 6-2, 8-6; Schnertz defeated W. D. D. Morgan '18, 6-1, 6-2. Doubles--Williams and Pfaffmann defeated Beekman and Coffey, 6-4, 6-4; Caner and Rand defeated Knox and Riker, 6-4, 6-4; Atterbury and Jackson defeated Kelleher and Doty, 6-2, 7-5.
Team Faces Cornell Today.
The University tennis team will play Cornell, on Divinity Field, this afternoon at 3.30 o'clock. Last year the team was defeated by Cornell at Ithaca six matches to three. The team will line up this afternoon as follows: Singles--1. Captain R. N. Williams, 2d, '16; 2. G. C. Caner '17; 3. J. S. Pfaffmann '17; 4. W. Rand, 3d, '17. Doubles--1. Williams and Pfaffmann; 2. Caner and Rand.
The finals of the Interscholastics will be played on Divinity Field this afternoon at 3 o'clock. In any case, the title and shield will go to Phillips-Andover Academy, which has succeeded in placing two of its representatives, J. M. Weber and C. L. Harrison, in the final rounds.
Doubles Tournament Continues.
In continuation of the tournament for the University Championship in Doubles, on Jarvis Field, the following matches will be played: At 3.45--F. Whitlock '16 and H. Morgan '17 vs. L. P. Mansfield '16 and H. L. M. Cole '16; H. R. Guild '17 and D. Duncan '17 vs. C. J. Prindeville '18 and W. P. Hewitt '18. At 4.45--T. B. Scott, Jr., '18 and L. E. Green '18 vs. E. Holt '16 and P. Lowry '16; W. Edgar '16 and S. B. McKinley '16 vs. J. Wooldredge '16 and R. Kennedy uC. Trials for the Freshman Dormitory teams will begin on Soldiers Field this afternoon. All matches for this afternoon are announced in the notice column.
