‘I Am Really Sorry’: Khurana Apologizes for International Student Winter Housing Denials
The first of a series of informal dinners for the quarterbacks, centres, and first-string backfield of the University football team will be held in the Varsity Club this evening at 6.30 o'clock. H. H. Gardner '13 and D. C. Waison '16 will speak. The purpose of this series of talks, which will continue through the spring practice, is to acquaint the men with the finer points of the game which cannot be learned on the field. The players, particularly the quarterbacks, will be given problems and propositions to work out. This system was tried successfully two years ago, but was not used last year.
Manager Candidates Out Monday.
Candidates for the position of second assistant manager of the University football team from the class of 1919 will report in the H. A. A. Monday at 1 o'clock. As in former years, the competition will extend through the full season, the appointment being made on the night of the Yale game. The work during the spring will consist of writing letters, gathering statistics, and solving various problems designed to test the candidate's ingenuity and general ability. During the spring practice, April 24 to May 5, there will be work around the field every afternoon except Saturday.
At the end of the spring practice eight men will be retained for further competition in the fall. These men will be expected to return to Cambridge about September 10 to continue the competition. At the time of the Yale game the first man in the competition will be appointed second assistant manager of the University team, while the second man will be appointed second assistant manager of the second team.
During the spring competition allowance will be made for men taking part in other college activities, but the work in the fall will take up most of the candidates time. Any man interested and wishing further information should see N. E. Burbidge '17, Dana 48.
