MAINE CONTEST OPENS COLLEGE BALL SEASON

Five Veterans on Opposing Nine Which University Defeated 5 to 2 Last Year.

The University baseball team will meet Maine at Soldiers Field this afternoon at 4 o'clock. Owing to the cancellation of the Bowdoin game this is the first college contest of the University season. The team from Maine includes five veterans from last year's team which the University defeated by a score of 5 to 2. Only two of these players are seen in different positions from those which they played last year. Hackett who played right field last year is now playing left, and Gorham who played left is now at centre.

The University will present the same line-up which defeated the Red Sox. Coach Mitchell has not announced who will pitch, but he will probably pick either Harrison or Whitney.
