At the first practice for the spring season of the University and Freshman track teams yesterday a large squad of candidates reported. Since the board track is being taken up, and the cinder track is not in condition, Coach Donovan had the short distance men work out on the cinder sidewalk on Harvard street beside the Stadium, while the candidates for longer distances ran to the Cottage Farm Bridge on the Charles River parkway.

An informal dinner for track men is to be held in the small dining-room of the Union this evening at 6.15 o'clock. There will be about forty men present, and plans for the field events of the University and Freshman track teams will be discussed.

The winners of the events, held in the Cage during the winter competitions, will receive their cups at this time. Moreover, captains have been appointed for each of the events, and these appointments will be announced at this dinner. These captains will be responsible for all candidates reporting for their event.
