This year's financial statement of the Union shows a deficit of $6,667.63, the largest loss in recent years, last year's deficit being $3,990.46, while the total loss of the year previous was $6,614.62. The net loss of the House Department was practically the same as last year, both income and expenses being some-what lower. The gain from pool and cigars was almost identical with that of last season, the former department showing some increase and the latter a small decrease. The greatest point of difference was in the restaurant, which last year showed a gain of nearly $1,000 and this year a loss of more than $1,500. The last figures, however, are somewhat misleading, as certain large purchases had to be made early in the year.
