UNIVERSITY PLAYERS IN INVITATION TOURNAMENT

Contests for Longwood Covered Courts Trophy in Singles Will Begin This Afternoon.

The Third Annual Invitation Tournament for the Longwood Covered Courts Trophy in Singles will commence this afternoon. This will be the first of the preliminary matches which will be played off by the end of the week. The finalists probably will play Sunday afternoon for the possession of the trophy.

Four University players will compete in this tournament: G. C. Caner '17, H. G. M. Kelleher '18, J. S. Pfaffmann '16, and R. N. Williams, 2d, '16.

In 1914 the trophy was won by N. W. Niles '09, and last year it went to R. N. Williams, 2d, '16, who is now in possession of it. In addition to the four University players many other competitors have accepted the invitation and will participate. Among these are: G. P. Gardner, Jr., '10, Massachusetts State Champion in 1915; N. W. Niles '09, Massachusetts State Champion in 1911-12-13-14; A. S. Dabney '09, H. C. Johnson, G. D. E. Jones, H. A. MacKinney, and I. C. Wright.

The tournament will be open to the public without charge for admission or seats.
