The results of the weekly field event competitions held in the Baseball Cage during the winter have been announced. Competitions were held in the broad and high jump, pole-vault, shot-put, and 35-pound weight event. In all, about seven or eight of these competitions have taken place. A system of handicapping was employed and proved satisfactory in making the different events evenly contested. There were two different cups awarded in each event. One of these was for the best average of actual jumps, vaults, puts, and throws, and was called the "Scratch Cup." In awarding this cup consideration was taken of attendance so that in some cases a man competing faithfully was given preference over a man who had the highest average but whose attendance was irregular. The other cup was given on a point basis, first place counting 5 points, second 3 points, and third 1 point. Handicaps were taken into consideration in awarding this cup, and it was known as the "Handicap Cup."
The results follow:
High Jump.--Scratch Cup: Won by G. G. Haydock '16, average 5 ft. 4 3-10 in. Handicap Cup: Won by D. S. Laird '19, total points 13; second, A. R. Frey '19, 10 points; third, G. G. Haydock '16, 9 points; fourth, R. O. West '19, 8 points.

The weekly competitions proved very successful and brought out some excellent performances by stimulating interest in the different events. A change will be made next winter by giving a point for entering. The cups will be given out at a formal presentation, the date of which will be announced later
