In a hard-contested match in the Fencing Room at the Hemenway Gymnasium, the Springfield Y. M. C. A. fencing team won against the University fencing team by the score of 5 to 4. The outcome of the meet was in doubt up to the last bout when Captain Zinn of Springfield won against E. P. Hamilton '18.
Between the third and fourth bouts of the regular meet, a very interesting exhibition bout was given by Professor Leslabay, Coach of the Harvard team, and S. F. Damon '14, captain of the 1914 team, in which they used real duelling swords, such as are employed in Europe.
The score of the Springfield-Harvard match was as follows: C. Bird (S.), 13, Captain W. H. Russell '18, 10; E. P. Hamilton '18, 10, K. B. Rowley (S.), 4; Captain E. F. Zinn (S.), 9, G. H. Code '18, 4; E. P. Hamilton '18, 6, C. Bird (S.), 5; K. B. Rowley (S.), 7, G. H. Code '18, 1; Captain W. H. Russell '18, 7, E. F. Zinn (S.), 1; C. Bird (S.), 9, G. H. Code '18, 7; Captain W. H.
