Harvard Still On Track To Reach Fossil Fuel-Neutral Status by 2026, Sustainability Report Finds
Varsity crew practice began yesterday afternoon with regular indoor work. The University crews numbered twelve while the Freshman oarsmen filled ten boats. The total squad now getting into shape total 190 men, 20 more than the Yale aggregation.
Coach Haines graded his crews immediately. In the University shell there are six seats filled by last year's first-string oars. These are C. C. Lund '16, who has seen but one defeat in his racing career, that against Yale last year, in the position of stroke oar; H. B. Cabot '17, still at number seven; Captain D. P. Morgan '16 was moved from two to six; T. E. Stebbins '17, who still pulls the number five oar; K. B. G. Parson '16, who is rowing 4; and H. L. F. Kreger '16, last season's coxswain. The three bow men are A. Potter '17, a second-string man last year, bow; Moseley Taylor '18, who comes from the 1918 Freshman boat at 2; and J. Talcott '16, who rowed with Potter in the second University at number three. Practice consisted entirely in work on the machines and in the rowing tanks, which are now ready for use.
The Freshmen had much the same work. A total of 190 men fills up accommodations pretty thoroughly, but nevertheless every one has a good chance to prove his ability and to receive individual instruction.
The first two University crews were seated as follows:
University crew.--Stroke, C. C. Lund '16; 7, H. B. Cabot '17; 6, D. P. Morgan '16; 5, T. E. Stebbins '17; 4, K. B. G. Parson '16; 3, J. Talcott '16; 2, Mosely Taylor '18; bow, A. Potter '17; cox., H. L. F. Kreger '16.
Second crew.--Stroke, F. W. Busk '16; H. A. Quinby '18; 6, H. Middendorf '16; 5, J. W. Middendorf '16; 4, H. Volkmann '16; 3, E. W. Soucy '16; 2, M. Wiggin '18; bow, N. Brazer '18; cox., A. A. Cameron '17.
