A surprising trend away from the professions and toward industrial and commercial pursuits is shown in the new Yale directory of living graduates. The recent compilation shows a gain of 99 per cent, in the number of graduates engaged in industrial and commercial pursuits in the 12 years ending with 1915; while the gain in the number of Yale alumni in the professions for the same period was only 24 per cent.
The number of graduates in the principal divisions in 1904 and in 1915 and the gain in 12 years is shown below:
