The University association football team with two defeats and one victory to its credit will play the Yale team which has won one game and lost one, at New Haven on the old Yale Field this morning at 10 o'clock.
The early season of the University team was very successful. They defeated Prospect Union in the opening game 2 to 3. The striking feature of this game was the clever stopping of many hard shots at the goal. The team did not have a very good attack, nor have they been able to develop one that could be relied upon at any time during the season. Both other preliminary games were won also. Andover was defeated 2 to 0 and Springfield 2 to 1.
In the first league game, however, with Princeton, the University was defeated 2 to 4, but retrieved this defeat later by taking the game from Cornell by the same score. In the most critical game of the series, that with Pennsylvania last Saturday, the University lost 3 to 2.
The league standing now puts the University in fourth place, with Penn, leading and Princeton sure of first place if Pennsylvania loses one game. Today's game will decide third place for the present. The line-up follows: University substitutes: W. W. Rice, l.i.f.; Rogers, l.o.f.; Bean, h.b.; Knowlton, f.b.
