The commission on western history has placed on exhibition in the Treasure Room of Widener Library some "New England Materials for the History of the West." This commission was founded in 1912 by a gift from Mrs. William Hooper in memory of her father, Charles Elliott Perkins. Its purpose was to collect materials, books, papers or old documents pertaining to the history of western America. For this purpose, committees have been appointed throughout the country in the larger cities. In this way a large amount of material has been collected. Any graduate or undergraduate who has any documents or papers which he thinks might be used by the commission may send them to the secretary, Roger Pierce '04.
