L. W. Beilenson was elected temporary president of the 1920 Debating Society at the organization meeting held in the Smith Halls Common Room. Judge A. P. Stone '93, E. R. Roberts 1L and A. G. Paine '17, president of the University Debating Council addressed the meeting which was attended by about 125 of the Freshman Class. After the president was elected, the meeting was turned over to him and the following three committees were appointed:
Committee in charge of the Constitution, A. L. Benjamin, R. J. Donaldson and J. J. Hogan, Jr.; nominating committee, H. C. Clark, H. J. Hamershlag and H. Rublee; program committee, H. Berlack, R. B. Quintana and L. W. Schwars.
