STIFF WORK-OUT FOR RELAY MEN

Freshmen Show Great Lack of Interest in Weight Events.

NO WRITER ATTRIBUTED

The relay candidates were given more of a work-out yesterday than on the first day of practice. Coach Donovan had the short distance men run a half-mile twice on the boards. Captain Bingham set the pace for the long distance squad for ten laps.

More men are wanted for the weigh; events. So far no Freshmen have come out, and this winter practice in the shotput and hammer is essential for turning out a well-balanced team in the spring. All those who have the necessary weight are urged to come out whether they have had any previous experience or not. As it is planned to enter a five-man team in the shot-put in the indoor intercollegiates, more candidates for the University team are needed in this event. There is also a splendid opportunity for new men to develop in the hammer now that practice can be held indoors.

Competitions in the various field events will soon start on Thursdays and Fridays. At the end of winter practice, two cups will be given for each event, one for the best actual record and the other for the best average record plus the allotted handicap.
