MECHANIC ARTS DEFEATED

Freshman Swimming Team First in Every Event Except Diving.

The 1919 swimming team won its third meet of the season from Mechanic Arts High of Boston, at the Cambridge Y. M. C. A. tank yesterday afternoon by the score of 52 to 10. The Freshmen were clearly superior and won every event except the diving. W. C. Hubbard '19 was the star, winning two firsts.

The summary of the meet follows:

Relay, 200 yards.--Won by Harvard (Hubbard, Leonard, Swayze, Jackson); Mechanic Arts (Seaburg, Welch, Jacquith, Lombard).

25-yard race.--Won by W. C. Hubbard '19; F. S. Swayze '19, second; Lombard (M. A.), third. Time, 11 3-5 seconds.

40-yard race.--Won by W. C. Hubbard '19; C. U. Shreve '19, second; Lombard (M.A.), third. Time, 21 seconds.

100-yard race.--Won by R. E. Jackson '19; second, F. S. Swayze '19; third, Lombard (M.A.). Time, 1:02.

200-yard race.--Won by M. H. Leonard '19; C. U. Shreve '19, second; Kyle (M.A.), third. Time, 2:38.

Diving.--Won by Seaburg (M.A.); H. C. Smith '19, second; B. McNear '19, third.

Plunge.--Won by K. Merrick '19, (distance, 60 ft.); S. H. Wirt '19, second, (distance, 51 ft.); Jacquith (M.A.), third, (distance, 48 ft.)

Total, Harvard 1919, 52; Mechanic Arts High, 10.
