In a trial for the 780-yard relay team yesterday, H. W. Minot '17 came in first. A. Biddle '16 was second, and F. Z. Donahue '18, R. D. Campbell '17, J. Coggeshall '18, and J. C. Merriam '16 finished in the order named. Donahue took the lead at the start, but was passed in the fifth lap by Minot and Biddle, who had come up from behind. At the finish the runners were well bunched.
Entries from the University for the Coast Artillery Meet at the South Armory on Saturday have been made in the following events: University short relay with Technology, Freshman relay with the M. I. T. Freshmen, 75-yard dash, 440-yard dash, 880-yard run, mile run, the high jump, and the 600-yard Cup race. Tickets for this meet may be obtained at Leavitt & Peirce's at 50 cents, 75 cents, and $1.
Winter Carnival on Feb. 16.
The winter track carnival will be held this year on February 16 and 17. The usual interclass and interdormitory races will be run.
There will be a pole-vault competition in the Baseball Cage this afternoon at 3 o'clock.
